What is the Shopify Integration?

Our Shopify integration allows Shopify orders to be imported into commonsku as checkouts under a new Connected Shops Shop Type.

Products must be mapped using a shared SKU (external identifier) that links Shopify products/variants to corresponding commonsku products.

This ensures:

  • Accurate line item data

  • Supplier connection for PO generation

This creates an end-to-end automated workflow where Shopify checkouts are seamlessly converted to sales orders and then transformed into purchase orders within commonsku.

To Convert Shopify orders into commonsku checkouts,

You need to:

  • Ensure that your Shopify store and the Shopify Connected Shop in commonsku are fully integrated
  • Add products to your Shopify Connected Shop in commonsku so they match the products available in your Shopify store
  • Map each product's SKU to accurately link Shopify items with their corresponding products in commonsku

Mapping of SKUs

To Map skus to accurately link Shopify items to their corresponding products in commonsku:

1. Add products into your Shopify Connected Shop to match from the Shopify store

2. Hover over the product and Click Edit

3. Add the Shopify SKU (External SKU)  to the correspond commonsku product

External SKUs are the codes used for products in your Shopify store. Link each external SKU to the matching product in commonsku to make sure orders from Shopify connect to the right item in commonsku automatically.

Error Validation workflow

When a SKU mapping error occurs, use the error validation workflow to identify and address any mismatches.

To resolve SKU errors in the Orders tab:

  1.  Locate orders marked with red exclamation points these indicate a SKU error that needs attention
  2. For each flagged order, map the affected items to the correct product within your commonsku shop using the provided workflow
  3. Once you’ve selected the appropriate product, click Use Product  to confirm your choice
  4. Select Done to complete the process

By following these steps, you’ll ensure that each Shopify item is accurately linked to the corresponding commonsku product, supporting seamless order management and minimizing processing errors.

The error validation workflow helps you quickly fix SKU mapping issues and ensures every Shopify product is correctly linked to a commonsku product for smooth order creation.

FAQs

How are products synced?

Shopify products must be mapped to commonsku products using an external SKU number. This is what allows us to preserve supplier data.

What if Shopify products is not mapped in commonsku?

The order will still import, but the order will not be able to be converted to a project until errors are fixed. Distributors can manually assign a product post-import using an error validation flow.

Is this a one-way or two-way sync?

At this time, the integration supports a one-way sync: Shopify orders are imported into commonsku as checkouts.

How do distributors create the SKU mapping?

They’ll use the Product section to link each Shopify product/variant to a commonsku product via SKU.

Can we sync past orders?

No, only orders created after enabling the integration will sync.

Can we link multiple Shopify stores to a Shopify commonsku shop?

If you operate multiple Shopify stores and want to connect each to a corresponding commonsku shop, it’s important to note that each Shopify store can be linked to only one unique commonsku shop.

For example, if you have 7 Shopify stores, you will need to install the commonsku Connect app and set up the connection for each store individually one at a time so that every Shopify store is paired with its own dedicated commonsku connected shop.

This ensures accurate data flow and proper management for every storefront you wish to integrate.
