How to access the skummunity forum
To access the skummunity forum:
1. Click into your skummunity forum icon (next to your Global search bar)
2. Click on Resources > skummunity
How to leave the skummunity forum
To leave the skummunity forum:
- Click on the Back to commonsku button
How to search the skummunity forum
To search within the skummunity forum:
- Use either the search bar or the search icon located in the top right corner of the forum.
- Select on the advance filters to narrow your search (Optional)
- Sort results (Optional)
How to use the Profile icon
You can use your profile icon within your skummunity forum to track all of your skummunity related notifications, all of your activity and touch points within the forum, your user invites, and update your personal details and preferences.
From the profile icon, you can access a list of all notifications:
- skummunity notifications - a catch-all for all notifications listed below
- Replies - another user replies to a topic, reply, or comment you've posted in the skummunity forum
- Likes - another user likes a topic, reply, or comment you've posted in the skummunity forum
- Bookmarks - A list of all topics, replies, or comments you have bookmarked in the skummunity forum
- Chats - Another user direct messages you or @mentions you in a chat
- Other notifications - Notifications such as when someone links to or edits one of your posts
From your profile icon, you can also access your skummunity forum profile details by selecting the icon.
From your profile details icon, you can access:
- Summary - summarizes your activity within the skummunity forum and provides stats such as number of days visited, number of posts read/replied to, etc.
- Activity - provides access to more detailed activity in the system, such as a list of all of your topics, replies, likes, bookmarks, etc.
- Invites - list of ongoing invites you have sent to other users to join the Forum
- Drafts - new topics, replies, or comments you have not posted yet
- Preferences - your skummunity settings hub
- Pause notifications - pauses all skummunity forum notifications
- Log out - log out of the skummunity forum (this does not log you out of commonsku)
Updating your skummunity forum preferences
From the preferences tab within your community forum, you can update details in all of the following tabs:
- Account - From here, you can:
- Adjust your username, profile picture, and full name
- Click to request an archive of all of your account activity and preferences within this community forum.
- See the email address used for your user login (this is not visible to the public)
- Security - Provides a list of all recent devices and browsers used to access the forum
- Profile - From here, you can:
- Customize your “About Me” section
- Select your preferred time zone
- Add your location (city)
- Include a link for your company website
- Upload images to use as your profile header and user card background
- Select a topic from any of your groups to link to your user card and profile
- Adjust your date of birth
- Emails - Update email notification preferences for activity within the skummunity forum
- Notifications - Update preferences for and enable in app notifications for activity within the skummunity forum
- Tracking - Update preferences surrounding the tracking of topics. From here, you can also add specific groups to different tracking categories
- Users - From here you can add users to your “Ignored” and “Muted” lists to suppress notifications, personal messages, and chat direct messages from specific commonsku users
- Interface - Update the color scheme, text size, and default homepage of your community forum. From here, you can update other preferences such as auto-marking topics as unread, hiding your public profile, and opening external links in new tabs.
- Navigation - This section allows you to choose how you see new or unread items within your topic list.
- Chat - Preference settings such as enabling your direct messaging tool, push notifications, and chat related email notifications.
- AI - Allows you to enable or disable automatic AI generated image captions for posts within the forum
My Posts tab
Your My Posts tab on the left hand navigation will direct you to your Activity tab, which provides access to more detailed activity in the system, such as a list of all of your topics, replies, likes, bookmarks, etc.

Your FAQ tab on the left hand navigation will provide access to:
- About - A breakdown of our skummunity forum Admin team and Moderators, as well as contact details for providing feedback and reporting performance issues
- FAQ - Frequently asked questions and definitions for tools and details within the skummunity forum
- Community Guidelines - Rules and policies for interacting with other commonsku users within the skummunity forum
- Privacy - Details surrounding our privacy and data protection policies
New Topics tab
This section displays all new topics in forum in the order they were posted, chronologically.
To view all the New Topics on the skummunity forum:
- Click on New Topics tab on the left hand of the forum
- Filter by Groups, Latest or Top posts (Optional)
commonsku tip: You can choose how the skummunity forum defines a topic as "new" from your Profile Icon > Preferences > Tracking.

This section displays work anniversaries and birthdays for all users on this community forum. Reason birthdays can be sorted by:
- Today
- Tomorrow
- Upcoming
- All
Anniversary and Birthday dates are pulled directly from a users commonsku profile. If you want to update your anniversary and birthday, you will have to head back into commonsku and make those changes from your regular profile.
Groups
On your left navigation, you’ll find your ‘Groups’ section, containing each of the private groups you are currently a member of. Think of these groups as similar to groups on social media or virtual meeting rooms where you can collaborate with others who share similar interests.
By default, you have access to the following groups:
- Sales
- Production
- Finance
- Management
- Feature Releases
- Promo Trends
In certain cases, the commonsku team will create closed groups for certain users. This could include:
- A group of commonsku users taking part in a new feature beta
- A group of users who are attending or have already attended a specific commonsku event
You can click into any of your groups to review, interact with, and create new topic threads contained in that group.
Topics
Topics are conversation threads that skummunity Forum users can create to start a conversation about their chosen subject or question.
When interacting with Topics, skummunity Forum users can:
- Create new topics
- Reply to topics they own, or owned by other users
- "Like" other users topics, and replies to topics
- Share another users topic or reply
- Bookmark a topic or a reply
To start a new topic from your New Topics tab or within an existing Group:
- Click + New Topic
- Type your title and choose your category (Group) if needed
- Use all of your text edit functions to compose your new topic
- Once done, Select the + Create Topic button
To reply to another user's Topic or reply:
- Click the Reply button associated with the user's post
- Use all of your text edit functions to compose your response
- Click Reply
To "Like" another user's Topic or reply:
- Click the icon associated with the user's post
To Share another user's Topic or reply with another user:
- Click the icon to copy the Topic or reply's URL to your clipboard
To Bookmark another user's Topic or reply:
- Click the icon to save the Topic or reply to your bookmarks.
You can see all of your bookmarked posts by clicking your Profile icon > Bookmarks tab.
Depending on their preferences, skummunity Forum users will receive email notifications when you interact with their posts!

Watching and Tracking Groups, Posts, and Threads
skummunity Forum users can choose to watch, track, or mute group and topic activities in order to streamline their content and email notifications and stay focused on what is most important to them.
To modify your tracking preferences for a Group or Topic thread:
- Click the Icon
- Select your desired option
The Watch/Track options for Groups/Categories are:
- Watching - You will automatically watch all topics in this category. You will be notified of every new post in every topic, and a count of new replies will be shown
- Tracking - You will automatically track all topics in this category. You will be notified if someone mentions your @name or replies to you, and a count of new replies will be shown
- Watching First Post - You will be notified of new topics in this category, but not replies to the topics
- Normal - You will be notified if someone mentions your @name or replies to you
- Muted - You will never be notified of anything about new topics in this category, and they will not appear in your New Topics tab.
The Watch/Track options for Topic threads are:
- Watching - You will be notified of every new reply in this topic, and a count of new replies will be shown
- Tracking - You will be notified if someone mentions your @name or replies to you, and a count of new replies will be shown
- Normal - You will be notified if someone mentions your @name or replies to you
- Muted - You will never be notified of anything about this topic, and it will not appear in your New Topics tab.
How to use the Chat icon
This section allows users to communicate with other members in the skummunity forum.
By clicking on the chat icon, users will have access to a list of their previous group chats (closed groups) and direct messages.
Sending a direct message to a user or a group of users
To send a direct message:
- Click on any user's profile icon to access their details (role, company, location, last post, joined date, last read time)
- Select the start a new group chat button
- Select the user(s) you'd like to invite to join the chat
- Send your message
- Chats are also visible and accessible from your DM list on the left
Group Chats (Closed groups)
If you have been added to a closed group in the skummunity forum, you can engage in a group chat with all members within that group. Group chats are created by commonsku team members and are not available within your default groups.
To respond to a group chat:
- Click the
icon in the top right hand corner
- Click the Group Chats tab
- Compose your message
- Click to send
Keyboard shortcuts
Click the icon on the left side to provide you with a comprehensive list of keyboard shortcuts to navigate the different tabs and sections more efficiently within the skummunity Forum.
FAQ
Is the skummunity Forum only for commonsku distbutors?
Yes, it is only available for commonsku distributors right now.
Do I need permission to access the skummunity Forum?
Yes, you need to have the "Access to skummunity Forum" permission.
Can I create a new group?
You are unable to create new groups. You are able to create new topics within the groups, with the exception of the Feature Releases group, which is maintained by commonsku staff.
